I am in love with Jillian Michael's new app! If you have an iPhone or iPod touch, you must get this.
It has been my summer staple so far. With the weather being nice (I know it's nice more than just summer here ha) I've been wanting to do all my work outs outside at the track on base, rather than in the stinky gym.
My one big problem. I can never think of good exercises to do. Of course I do a lot of running and walking, but then I start to draw a blank. That's why I'm so in love with this little gem.
In the exercise section she has a ton of work outs that you can do. And in each categorie there are like 4 to 5 different work outs. It's Jillian, meaning they are not easy. She has you doing lots of reps, so you think it's going to be a piece of cake.. not so much. And what I love most about the work outs, they are all videos! So you don't have to try to figure them out on your own.
I love the little saying it has at the top, you just have to imagine Jill screaming them at you :] There is much more you can do with this app, I haven't used the running part since.. well I'd rather not see it yell back at me! You can also track your weight and progress which is nice. It's super easy to use, which is a must for me.
By the way, I FINALLY learned how to take a screen snap shot, so I've been having a lot of fun with that. I know some of you are probably thinking about dang time!! I found this tips & tricks app for the iPhone, so I feel like I'm smart now :]

Getting to know me
1.If you had $5000.00 to spend on plastic surgery what would you have done?
Boobs. I hate them. It's the one thing on my body that I do not like. :(
2. Do you watch Soap operas and if so what is your favorite and why?
Ha never have and never will! I just don't get the whole appeal to them.
3. Favorite clothing brand?
Aero, American Eagle usually. Lucky when I can find a good sale. Really anything that fits and is cheap or in my budget.
4. An afternoon shopping spree at your favorite store or maid service for a year?
Shopping spree for sure!! I love to clean so no need for a maid to do it.
5. would you ever vajazzle?
hahaha NO!! That is just too weird for me.
6. Favorite Disney Princess?
Don't have one. Sorry.
7. Last movie that made you bawl your eyes out?

8. Have you ever broken any bones and if so what?
Nope, just fractured my tailbone and dislocated a shoulder.

Yay me!
I realized I've been reading more blogs than writing any myself! Time sure has been going by too fast for me right now. I don't mind it, I just need to learn to keep up : ] I've had so many blogs in my head that I want to write up but when I get to the computer I forget it all. I tried downloading a blogger app on my phone but the darn thing won't let me sign on. Anyone out there that blogs through there iPhone.. any advice!?
Today miss Mikey over at The Voigt Story gave me a Sugar Doll award. Now it's making me crave sugar! Ahh. Anyways I was honored to be thought of.. yay! To receive the award I'm suppose to tell you 10 things about myself (kinda weird if you ask me! I'm only participating because I forgot what I was going to blog about... AGAIN!).
1. I'm obsessed with my teeth! My mom calls me Ross ; ] ha
2. My dogs are my babies.. and always will be.
3. I'm double jointed in my hips. I love to pop my hips in and out of place just to gross people out.
4. I haven't had cable in years (we had the converter box up for a while, but it's now packed away) and LOVE every minute of no TV. It's amazing the amount of time you can waste in front of it.
5. I'm a great listener. Even if I don't know what to say.
6. When I was little I wanted to be a teacher by day and a singer/dancer by night.
7. I love being married. It's not perfect by any means, but we NEVER give up on anything and work through whatever problem is going on.
8. I love moving and living all over the country (and hopefully world one day!)
9. My "dream" job as an adult was to be a photographer in the Air Force. That I'm pretty sure will surprise some.. I've only ever told a few people that.
10. I may be annoying at times, but as a friend I will always be there for you.
Now I'm suppose to pass this little award here on to 10 other lucky ladies. Drum roll please....
Brandi @ Excess Baggage
Kelsey @ Lavender, Leopard, and Lave
Kim @ Newlywoodwards
Carlee @ Ross family antics
Ashley @ Smile Steady
Megan @ In this wonderful life (I realize she won't see this for awhile, but I know they would love your prayers!!)
Whitney @ The glamour life of a housewife
Kelly @ The startup wife
Congrats all!

Mission...
.... to eat mostly organic instead of about 20% organic.
Mission....
.... to find a way to shop at Whole Foods or Henry's for cheap.
Mission....
.... half way accomplished!
I had decided to change up our grocery shopping into every week instead of every pay check, in hopes of not wasting food anymore. I did great at saving money, I'm a pro at that... however, I've never tried it at a specialty store before. The plan is to buy all our fruits and veggies at farmers markets and the rest at Whole Foods {and whatever little leftovers at the commissary}. Tuesday was the day. Not gonna lie I was a little nervous that it wasn't going to work well. I didn't make it to a farmers market since the closest one I knew of was out in Coronado and I had no reason to go all the way out there. I ended up spending $53 on groceries at Whole Foods and was very happy! I even found some Popchips! LOVE them! And Target now cares Lara Bars so I bought a box of the minis. Yum.
All in all I am very happy with how everything turned out. We will be eating healthier, no more having to worry about pesticides. And no more wasting food.
Anyone have advice on shopping organic?! Or obsessed with Lara Bars and Popchips like I am :)

Here and there
Something you might notice over the next few months is that my posts will be pretty sporadic. Since last summer was spent in pain and we only had about a month in a half to explore San Diego in the summer (although I was more stuck to the couch!). I have decided this summer we will do and see just about everything possible! There is so much I still want to do, I feel like after a year of being here we should have by now. Instead I plan to accomplish it all this summer.
I'm counting down the days till the 4th because we'll be spending it at Soak City for Military Appreciation Day. We tried to go last summer, but surprise surprise I couldn't move much so we missed out. The next day we're going to the San Diego County Fair to see Jeff Duhnam! Yay :) Countless trips to the beach because that's how we roll... Taking day trips if lucky. I'm just so excited!
* * * * * * * * * *
Saturday we decided to go check out the outlet mall in Alpine. When we were first driving into the San Diego area we pasted an outlet mall that looked pretty neat. I kept mentioning I wanted to check it out, and finally after almost a YEAR we made it there. It was a dud! The store selections were horrid, and none of them had good options. It was however the nicest outlet mall I've ever been to. But there's no way we'll be going back.
Instead we decided to drive up to the outlet mall in Carlsbad since I thought they had a Nike. I was wrong they have Adidas. Neither Frank or myself have had Ruby's Dinner in quite awhile and a milkshake sounded great at that point. I wasn't up for greasy foods (since I never really am) and got the Vegwhich. It's avocado, low-fat cheese, low-fat mayo, lettuce, spinach, and tomato on whole wheat bread. Sounds good right!? Oh Ruby's how you tried... but FAILED! It would have been tasty if I had asked for no cheese, they put two slices on (both sides) mayo on both sides (ICK!) and they grilled the bread in way too much butter... I've never had such a "healthy" sandwich be so greasy. Sigh.
I also decided that the San Ysidro outlet is my favorite! It's more crowded because it's right on the Mexico/USA border.. but man oh man do they have a great selection and even better deals! The whole point of our shopping excursion was to find me new running shoes. Mine are about 2 years old and ready for the trash.
On our way home we needed to get gas and I of course wanted to get cheap gas so I made Frank go to Murphy Canyon and get gas "on base". We had to hop on the 52 to get to the 15 and out of the corner of my eye I see this store called Road Runner Sports. I wasn't sure if it was a store or a warehouse but at the last second we decided to get off the freeway to check it out. REI was right by it so we figured we stop there if it wasn't anything. Boy did we get lucky! This place is AMAZING! They have this area called Shoe Dog where you can have insoles made just for your feet, and they can see how you stand/balance/run etc. I've heard of this before but never knew where to find it. Both Frank and I found out that we have extremely high arch's and run with our feet outwards. Frank also found out that his feet are two different sizes! ha I thought that was crazy. After they make your insole (if you want one the consultation is free) they tell you what kind of shoe you need. So I for instance need stability and balance and Frank needs stability. Then they take you over to the shoes and hand you off to a shoe person who finds shoes for your feet's needs.
I ended up with a brand calls brooks.. I LOVE the shoes and insole!! It's amazing what having the right kind of foot wear can do for you. They also have sports bra consultants that can help the ladies find that perfect sports bra for there ladies. Since both of us were getting the insoles (at $80 a pop!) and I was getting shoes I decided to wait on the bra. I did however leave all my info and the bra I liked (the Juno) on a customer card so when I do go back they can just look everything up so I don't have to remember. I like that.
Not gonna lie when it came time to check out, we were a little nervous by how much it was going to cost. My shoes ended up being in sale, yay, and we signed up for the VIP membership so everything was cheaper than regular store price, yay, AND we got military discount on top of that. YAY! The total was still more than we would like, but the savings we did like.
We're hoping the money spent on the insole for Frank will be money well spent! His boots mess his feet up pretty bad while at work. He ordered a pair of wides or something a long time ago and of course has yet to get anything, so if anything the insoles will help for now.
I'd say it was a good Saturday :)

Why we hated our last apartment...
Man charged with stabbing 2 at Virginia Beach night club
A Virginia Beach man has been arrested and charged in an incident in which two men were stabbed at a night club. Rafael Obes Hernandez, 29, is charged with two counts of malicious wounding and one count of revocation of probation. The incident happened around 1 a.m. Thursday at the Luxury Brown night club on Baker Road. Officers arriving at the scene found two men suffering from stab wounds. The men were transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
If you ever hear me or Frank complaining about our last apartment in Virginia, this is why. Our apartment was right across the street... we would have spent the evening watching this all unfold from our patio. Okay not really I would have been locked inside with all the curtains closed.
I can happily say I DO NOT miss The Hamptons :)
By the way, I was in Washington when I found the apartment if I would have seen it first there would have been no way I'd live there. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

My date with Tim McGraw
Friday night Frank and I had an awesome date with Tim... one day he'll realize he's on it with me. Maybe not, but I can dream. This was Frank's first Tim McGraw concert and of course he loved it! How can you not. The show was at the Cricket Amphitheater in Chula Vista. Word of advice, the parking is horrid there! Worst EVER.
All in all it was a great date night, we don't have them often but when we do. They rock.
* * * * * * * * * *
Saturday Frank and I got to volunteer at the Rock N Roll expo. When I signed up for this I picked Saturday thinking that was the day of the race. I was so very happy to find out we'd be working the expo and that the race was Sunday morning. I found out volunteers had to be there at 3:30 this morning!! Yup no thank ha.
The marathon, half marathon and relay were all sold out! That's such an awesome thing since it helps bring a cure to leukemia and lymphoma. I hope to volunteer again next year :)
* * * * * * * * * *
Last night after the expo we went over and hung out with Mikey since it was hers and Mike's one year anniversary. Frank left to go do car stuff (boring!) so Mikey and myself just hung out. After going through the breakfast section on Pioneer Women we were both starving and decided to go to Ihop. Apparently this was Mikey's first late night Ihop stop so we made it a date! Frank showed up just as the waiter was taking our order. He's one lucky guy haha.
I hope I got everything.. I'm super rushed and when I'm rushed, I forget LOTS!
Happy Sunday!

Zumba!
Anyone out there every take a Zumba class before? Tonight Mikey and I tried out a class on base for the first time. We both new we had no rhythm or dance ability, but we were ready to kick butt!
We looked ridiculous because we were the only beginners, but man oh man did we ever have fun. It was such a fast hour. We're only going to go to one class a week since it's $5 a class.
This was also the first fitness class I've taken... well in years, I just remembered I did a yoga class eons ago. Zumba completely boosted my self confidence in taking fitness classes, I plan to try a spin class tomorrow. This is yet another class I've been deing to try, but have chickened out on. Wish me luck :)

101
For quite awhile I've seen that "101 things in 1001 days" from dayzeroproject.com going around. I never thought to try it myself, but last week Michelle over at The Girl Can't Help It. started on for herself. I figured I'd join in on the bandwagon and do one for myself and Frank.
My list is a little different since it's going to be for both Frank and myself, and it's not finished. I realized that in 1001 days we most likely won't even be living in San Diego and trying to figure out a list of things to do.. is just hard. So I figured over time I'd continue adding to the list. I also started this list last week but am just now getting around to posting it. As for the dates.
