We're still alive!
We've been enjoying the beautiful weather since there is a storm apparently moving in later this week. Yesterday the dogs and I sat out behind our apartment in the sun all day {well mostly in the shade we got too hot} and I ended up with a interesting tan line on my legs. It's faded into a nice tan by now so I'm not complaining :)
Hopefully be off to play tennis later today once Frank is done helping a friend move. It's been forever since we've been able to play!
I'll be back to blogging in a few days about everything from food to Haysel's visit. See ya then!

Bye Bye Stomach Bug
I am happy to say that I am back and healthy, I have kicked the stomach bug to the curb! It feels great to feel normal again :)
Thank you everyone for your well wishes, I really did appreciate them. And thank you Deilene for letting me know I wasn't being dramatic, that I was just being a normal sickly.
Tonight Frank and I went out to 32nd street to work out. Mmmm it felt great. Saturday morning we're taking the dogs out there to do the woof walk. I'm super excited about it.
Tomorrow I'll update about food and our weekend with Haysel and the kids.

Sick
Yes me sick. How is it possible!? As Mikey said "how are you sick, you take such good care of your body" hello that's what I'm thinking. And to make it worse I'm breaking out bad. Boo. I told Frank last night while I was taking my 5th bath of the day "I guess I'm just overdue for something this bad". And bad it was. At 2:50 yesterday I filled up the sink to do dishes then sit down to let the water cool and soak some bowels when out of nowhere I started getting a stomach ache. For me that's nothing new, I tend to get quite a few stomach aches for no reason but all I have to do is lay down. This one not so much.
I ended up in the bathroom thinking I ate nothing out of the normal today, what's going on. I went back out to the couch not feeling any better. I decided I'd try a bath, since whenever I don't feel good I just about live in the tub. I sent Frank a text letting him know what was going on and such. I guess giving him the play by play. The bath wasn't doing much and I was just feeling worse so I got out and sat in front of the toilet cold wet and naked throwing up. Molly was nice enough to stay by me the whole time {or so I thought, little snot just had to pee and was waiting for me to be done}. After I dressed myself Frank sent a text back asking how I was, I replied with my not so good update and he said he was on his way home. I wasn't sure if he had asked to leave class early or if he was done. He's only in class for about 4 hours or less a day.
I figured since Molly had to pee I could sit outside and get some vitamin D in hopes that would help. Nope ended up running back to the bathroom just before Frank got home. He went and got me soup and bread from Panera Bread and he got himself Panda Express. I went and took another bath since I couldn't be in the room while he was eating it. Since I'm never sick and Frank is never sick this bad we weren't stocked up on the essentials. I ran out of Epsom salt with my first bath, we had no saltines in the house and restaurants apparently don't have 7-UP anymore. So I made due with sierra mist my soup and bread. None of it stayed down. Lucky me. Just before Biggest Loser came on I sent Frank on another run for me this time for saltines and 7-UP. My body was kind enough to give me a 2 hour break to watch the Biggest Loser {Oh thank you self, I needed that!} it was longest stretch I had gone without hugging the toilet. And I appreciated it very much.
After The Biggest Loser I took another bath came out to the living to have Frank rub my back when I realized I had to head back to the bathroom. That was NOT a fun time. I spent 40 minutes in all in there and Frank spent about 30 minutes rubbing my back while I laid over the toilet. I just kept saying "why me!??" Yes I was being a little dramatic :) I also spent a good amount of time in my makeshift bed on the bathroom floor. Frank wanted me to lay in bed, but moving wasn't an option.
I believe around 1 something I was finally able to go to bed, that sleep was amazing. I woke up not feeling all that great, but no more throwing up! Yay. Today apparently will be spent in the bathroom again... just not hugging the toilet {sorry for the TMI!}. I'm still only nibbling on saltines and downing water and 7-UP. I've been trying to eat some oatmeal.. but it's going slow.
Out of curiosity I wanted to weight myself to see how much came out of me the day before. I lost 4 freaking pounds! I'm pretty sure that was a few days of food. I'm also surprised I've had enough energy to write this. I'm also sorry for those of you who are either bored or grossed out by this. Thinking about food makes me nauseous so I can't update about that, and going through pictures to upload on here takes too much out of me.. so this is all I got :) Please still be my friend!?
Hopefully I'll be back in a few days healthy and back to training. Wish me luck.
Side Note: I'm sure they are a butt load of grammar errors in this, I tried my best but gave up since another bath is calling my name.

It's official
It is finally spring :) I'd also like to give a big 4th birthday shout out to Julyssa, Happy Birthday!!
Haysel is coming down with the kids for the night and I will be making an apple crisp pie for our dessert, and I have some mint chocolate chip cookies baking at the moment. Not sure how they're going to turn out.. I'm crossing my fingers for some good results.
I also found the taco casserole recipe. For some reason I never looked in my Costco cookbooks which is where I had got it from. You can go here to check it out if you'd like.
Happy Spring everyone, we'll be enjoying the rest of our weekend outside as much as possible.

A little bit of everything
I just want to start this by saying sorry for all the grammar mistakes in my last post. I was tired and trying to hurry up and finish the post. I'd also like to give a little shout out to miss Lily Mae for being the cutest stink in kid ever! Molly and Ellie send kisses back to you :)
Since I posted the wrong pictures in the last blog I'll put up a few from our day at the beach with Ashley, Moose and Charlie.
Now for the food...
Tonight I tried making baked vegetable egg rolls for the first time. They were extremely easy to make, although I found out that I have no idea how to roll something like a burrito. They would have been really good if I had the right kind of wraps. I guess I had bought spring roll wraps. I still had a few even though they were a little... off. I do want to try them again though! I found them here. I also didn't take a picture because Pam's look MUCH better than mine did.
Pancakes how I love you. Now that I'm thinking about them, I think I'm going to have a few for breakfast tomorrow. Yum. I got them from Ree over at the Pioneer Women, so of course they were destined to be delicious. She calls for cake flour, but I just used bread flour since I didn't feel like buying any for just one recipe. I would also like to note that this is the first time I've made pancakes, and they turned out perfect! Frank is the pancake maker in this house (which is odd since he's a waffle guy).

This is my favorite picture of the day, I just wish I was able to get Molly in it all the way.

Last week I made this amazing taco casserole, and I can't remember where I got it. I can't seem to find it in my recipe book either. Not liking that. If I am ever able to find the recipe, or remember where I got it from I will try to remember to share it with you all. I really liked it, Frank didn't care much for it but that was because I had used soy meat.
Well that's my food update for now. I think!? Not sure where my mind has wondered off too. If you find it please let me know.
I would just like to say to all of you who went to the beach today. Why didn't you invite me and the dogs!? Okay I really only knew of two people going, but still I was a tad jealous. Who wouldn't be. I did however start some spring cleaning :) Now that I do love. So far I've only done the spare room, but that is the worst since it's our storage room at the moment. We don't have much since I'm always going through it and donating or throwing away what we don't use, but I'm always able to find more. It's madness. One nice find was a much nicer camelbak. Frank forgot where he had put it, then forgot about it completely. I made sure to hang it up with the other one so now I have options. Is it sad that that makes me happy?
Because of all the cleaning and the lack of sleep I got last night, I ended up doing my workout during the biggest loser tonight. Normally I like to sit on my butt eating an apple or Popsicle (sugar free) while watching, but it was kinda nice doing sit ups, push ups, lunges and so on while they were working there butts off as well. I may have to continue doing that from now on. Anyone else like to work out at night while getting in there TV time?

Spring has Sprung
Oh spring how I've missed you... thank you for coming back into my life this year :)
I feel like I've been a bad blogger the last week in a half or so. Somehow my time gets taken away and I've forgotten to blog. Bad Emily. Tomorrow I will be doing a food update for sure! I have a few things to share, and one big thing I've never made tomorrow so hopefully it will be a good update!?
Sunday we went out to Fiesta Island with Ashley, Moose and Charlie (thank you for inviting us, the girls needed it!) for a few hours of play time. It was perfect timing since Saturday was pay day which meant we were in and out of the house all day shopping. Molly and Ellie hate those 2 day's of the month so we always try to do something just for them to get there energy out the day after pay day.
Today since Frank was home by 11:30 since he's going to be in a class for a few weeks (short days yay!) I said forget cleaning and baking lets go to Mission Trails! There was no way I was wasting such a beautiful day inside if I had the car to go somewhere. It was so peaceful when we go there. There were only a few people on the trail up to the old damn and a few cars passed by while walking. It was perfect.
We did a brisk walk there and then were going to run on the way back but as soon as I started to run I realized that I had to go to the bathroom. BAD! So instead I sped walked to the only porto potty on the trail which was over a mile away :( I felt much better after going to the bathroom, too bad I had burnt myself out just trying to get there. So we just did a slow walk back for the most part. Towards the end of the road it goes uphill to the beginning, Frank had decided to run with the dogs the rest of the way and I was just going to walk. I decided stop complaining and just DO IT! So I did. I ran up the hill and almost all the way to the car. I of course had to use Nick's technique of yelling at myself in my head to keep me motivated.
You may be wondering why I was so inclined to run? Maybe not just humor me. I decided I'm going to do a 1 month fitness test (I couldn't think of any better name) for myself. I'll be working on sit ups, push ups and running. I started this today and with the help of Frank showing me the proper ways I did 5 push ups and 20 sit ups military style. I'm hoping come April 12 I'll have good numbers and be in better shape after a year hiatus.
Wish me luck!!
Side Note: After uploading those pictures I realized they were from when we went to Fiesta Island on Friday. I'll post the pictures from our Sunday trip tomorrow. Sorry for the mistake.

Good bye old friend
This is a little late.. I would like to say I was super busy, but I was really just playing around with my phone.
Bad me, I know.
So last week my parents had to put down our last family dog cheech. It was sudden and quite a big shock since even at 10 was very active, and still his mean self. I guess he got sick (which I guess for him isn't too uncommon) but when he wasn't getting better my mom and brother had to take him to the vet ER since there normal vet was closed. They found out that he had a large mass in his stomach. They started him on antibiotics but sadly wasn't getting any better.
They decided to put him down instead of doing the surgery because there was a good chance it could come back. It was pretty hard for my dad since him and cheech had become close over the last 5 plus years my dad has been retired.
The only pictures of cheech that I have are on my thumb drive, and I don't feel like pulling it out and loading it up to the computer. This is a picture my mom sent me of cheech and zoey at the park not too long ago. Cheech is the one on the left.

What a weekend!
Well our weekend started off on the wrong foot. Frank woke up Saturday morning to find that his motorcycle had been stolen. He called the cops and let the apartment assistant manager know as well. The manager isn't working this weekend so on Monday she'll go through the security tapes to see what she can find.
Many people have commented on how mellow we've with this. To us theirs nothing we can do. It happened, we just have to make sure everything else is taken care of and move on. Frank will get another bike at some point. We just don't know when that will be yet.
We also found out that a car was stolen from our complex that same night! Crazy stuff huh. This is very new to this area so the manager said she's asked for more security at night through here. This also doesn't mean we are going to rush out and move. This kind of stuff is unfortunately everywhere, much more so lately. Frank and I have both said we wont be moving until we can move into something with a garage or yard! Which means we'll be here in our apartment for quite some time :)
The day wasn't completely bad. We went to talk to AT&T to see what kind of plans they had since we've been looking around lately. They were the only provider that offers 550 minutes on a family plan! I was sold. We also got a good deal on unlimited text and Internet, much better than what we had with Tmobile. Frank chose the iPhone and I decided to go with a brand new phone that wasn't even out yet. The backflip. It wasn't coming out till today (Sunday) so we had to wait one more night. I was fine with that, I don't think Frank was.
That night we went and saw Valentine's Day since my mom had given us free tickets to Regal. Yay! We loved the movie, it was so sweet I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it.
We were told that we should be to the AT&T store around opening at 10 so I could get my phone cause I'm guessing they didn't have many to give out. I had the sales lady hold one for me though. We set the alarm for 9 and still didn't make it out of bed till 10. Fed the dogs quick then headed out to get our phones.
Within an hour of being home I realized I liked the iPhone much much more! For some reason I had this idea in my head that the iPhone was hard to use, had horrible smudge marks etc. How wrong was I! I had figured out the iPhone within minutes and had never figured out mine the whole 3 hours I had it. I do like the backflip I could recommend it to anyone who has AT&T and is looking for a new phone. The camera on it is AMAZING!! I've never seen a camera on a phone that good or zoom in that far. That was the one thing I wish the iPhone has. Oh well I know have an iPhone along with Frank.

Sandwich love
I'm such a good wifey :) I like to make sure Frank's stomach is nice and full (healthy if possible). I told him today this is why he doesn't mind me not working, cause I'm always here to cook. When I work it means he has to cook for himself, which he doesn't care to do. I don't mind since I love hearing that what I've made was deliciously good!
Today for lunch I made him Marlboro Man's Second Favorite Sandwich. He LOVED it. And I loved that it was super easy to make. In the recipe Ree calls for peppered bacon, but since we only had regular bacon I just improvised. I added pepper to the bacon while it was cooking and Frank said it was just fine. Not being one who eats meat this sandwich smelled amazing! I'm pretty sure if I were to go to the dark side and start eating meat again, this sandwich is what I'd be diving into. Don't worry though, that wont happen!
Molly was loving the smells as well, many times I caught her looking my way wishing and hoping I'd drop something for her. They did get a little bit of the raw chicken, I like to give them some every once in a blue moon. They can barely sit still for it.
This is what I caught with the camera as I was finishing up the sandwich...
Look at her back there thinking this is for her. I can only imagine how fat my dogs would be if I gave them all the table scrapes they want! Thankfully they love fruits and veggies, so we'll just stick with those.
And the end result. You can serve this with what ever condiments you desire so Frank asked for lettuce and mayonnaise. Enjoy.
Now I get to sit around waiting for the UPS since I missed them yesterday. Not my idea of fun, but I will be happy to be stocked back up on my vitamins.

Good Food, Good Friends
It's not often we get to see the Santacruz bunch. Trying to get together takes weeks of planning and re-planning. Erik is home for a few weeks and only had a few more days before he had to go back to Texas. So last night they made the trek down from Palmdale {NOT Palm Springs mom!}. We knew they would only be here for a few hours, which sucks but it's most definitely better than nothing.
The kids got to play with the dogs a little bit and Frank got to act like a kid. He loves it. You'd never know we hadn't seen each other in months. We headed out to BJ's for dinner then over to Coldstone for dessert... mmmm :) Sadly they had to leave. It's a 3 hour drive and Leiian had school in the morning. We had fun and were glad to see good friends. Haysel is planning a weekend trip down here with the kids so we can hopefully make it over to Sea World.
So fast forward to dinner tonight. I've been dieing to make past primavera from PW for a few weeks now. I had planned on making it last week, but it didn't end up happening. Then I was going to make it last night but Erik, Haysel and the kids came down {Frank told me they were coming down at the last minute} and since we don't have a table I didn't want them eating this meal sitting on the floor. I am so glad I finally was able to make this, it was amazing! It's not completely healthy since it has 1/2 cup half in half and 1/2 cup heavy cream. But man it's good. I definitely recommend this to anyone who loves veggies. So who wants to come do my dishes!?

Then I was going to make it last night but Erik, Haysel and the kids came down {Frank told me they were coming down at the last minute} and since we don't have a table I didn't want them eating this meal sitting on the floor. I am so glad I finally was able to make this, it was amazing! It's not completely healthy since it has 1/2 cup half in half and 1/2 cup heavy cream. But man it's good. I definitely recommend this to anyone who loves veggies. So who wants to come do my dishes!?

Cinnamon Rolls
Oh cinnamon rolls, I have a love hate relationship with you.
I got this recipe from The Pioneer Women here and couldn't wait to try it. I'm not going to lie, I was scared to make these bad boys. I had never ventured into the world of cinnamon rolls before. Let me just tell you, these things are unbelievably easy! I made the first half of the cinnamon rolls last night to take to Mikey's for a Mary Kay party. Then I left the rest of the dough in the fridge to use this morning. A little advice, the dough works much better if you let it sit in the fridge overnight.
Edit: I forgot to mention that I didn't use the glaze Ree uses. I just did a plain glaze since I don't drink coffee. I used a whole bag of powdered sugar {sifted}, 1/2 a cup of milk, 1/4 cup melted butter, and a teaspoon of vanilla.

Sun, Sand and Fun
I don't know about anyone else but a good Sunday for me is spent at the beach, and today we did just that. I'd been wanting to take the dogs to the beach everyday this week it had been nice but that wasn't happening. Mine and Frank's schedules were always off. I told him last night that Sunday we WERE going to the beach! I knew if I didn't make him promise he'd go out on the bike before I could get mad about ditching out on our fun in the sun party.
What made it even more special is that Mikey and Willow came with. This was Willow's first time to the beach, so Molly and Ellie were pretty excited to show her around there playground. Willow ended up loving the water right away, which completely surprised both Mikey and myself. She never went in very far though since the waves easily went over her. The best part.. no dogs tried to hump her! I think that made us all sigh a little bit of relief {Willow isn't fixed yet but has gone into heat once, for those of you who were wondering}.

While we were at the beach I really wanted to get a picture of Frank and myself together, since we had someone to take it for us. Frank being the big kid he is made this wonderful face. I loved the picture but there was a nice big black mark from the camera lens. So I decided to decorate it to cover the mark :) I hope you like!
Before we headed out to the beach I had to run to Costco to pick up a few things. As I was walking the rows of shelves I noticed some new dog beds. Large dog beds. I told myself I wasn't going to get it, but gave in and at the last minute I went back and got one. Molly and Ellie each have a bed in the living room, but one is torn open and stuffing is coming out.. thanks to Molly. We've sown it shut before but it didn't stay closed. Molly also likes to cuddle, A LOT! Poor Ellie will be laying in one of the beds and Molly will come lay in it with her. It's not made to fit them both and Ellie always looked miserable, but dang they were cute.
So when I saw this bed I knew I had to get it. It's reversable for the seasons, so right now they are laying on the soft fuzzy side that keeps them warm and once it gets hotter we can turn it inside out and they can lay on the cool side. I also made sure to grab the brown bed, it matches our couch perfectly. I'm sure the dogs seem small in the bed, but think about it this way... they're 23 and 27 pounds and they both fit in there with extra room. I love it! And thankfully so do they.
